National Conservation Zoo

Opening times today: 10am - 4pm (Last entry at 3pm)

Take a breather after a hectic couple of hours of exploring the zoo in our ‘zen’ Rock Garden. With a waterfall feature, pond, rippling streams and a splash of colourful plants, we’re sure you’ll find our serene garden a place where you can unwind.

Reflecting the great diversity of plants in China and the Himalayan mountain range, like many of the other habitats across the zoo, this garden will transport you to another part of the world.

Some of the plants found here have been carefully collected from original species in the wild.

Nearby you’ll find the charming, one-of-a-kind red panda, which in the wild, lives in the bamboo forests of the Himalayas.

Our award-winning gardens are home to...

2000 carnivorous plants

We're home to over 2000 carnivorous plants, making our collection one of the largest ever in the UK.

Over 130 species

These incredible plants are kept in special conditions at the zoo.

Over 1,500 orchids

We look after more than 1,500 orchids originating from South America.
